United Sikh Mission Initiates the Installation of Solar Power Plant Project at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar – Campaign Film Releases

In a conscious effort to give back to the community (Sewa), conserving energy and saving the environment – United Sikh Mission has commenced its project for the installation of 1.5-Megawatt Solar Power Plant at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sri Darbar Sahib) with a budget of USD $800,000 (approximately INR ₹5.9 Crores). The project has begun and shall be completed by September 30th, 2021.

It is a huge step towards environmental conservation that will save 2,000 tonnes of C02 emission. It will not only ensure uninterrupted and clean power supply round the clock, but also add to the saving of 33% annual electricity of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar.
The initiative is officially supported by Sikhlens and has been greenlighted by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar.

A 6-minute campaign film explaining the project in detail has been released which can be seen on the official social media handles of United Sikh Mission, Sikhlens and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar respectively.

 



Conceived and directed by Ojaswwee Sharma, the campaign film urges the global Sikh community to step forward to contribute towards the initiative of empowering Sri Darbar Sahib with a renewable energy source to attain the goals of sustainably, energy conservation and environmental welfare.

The film features Bibi Jagir Kaur (President, SGPC), Mr. Rashpal Singh Dhindsa (Chairman United Sikh Mission, California), Mr. Bicky Singh (Founder, Sikhlens), Mr. Balour Singh (Former Director, Punjab Energy Development Authority PEDA), Dr. N.P. Singh (Former Dean, IKGPTU), Mr. Ranjit Singh and Mr. Avtar Singh (United Sikh Mission, India), and Mr. Baldev S. Kang (Project Manager) explaining the project.
